Knitting in art…

Seaman sweater – made to enjoy

Seaman sweater - made to enjoy

This sweater is made to feel good in. It is warm and has the aura of seamanship. The stitches (bobbles) are taken from a very traditional seaman sweater pattern used around Scandinavia.

The good thing about sweaters for children is that you can try out a pattern without too much work. I do not belong to the knitters who think that because it is for a child and the child will soon grow out of the sweater there is no need to make it complicated…quick to unravel and try out new stuff if you are not happy about the result.

Saw the two leaves on the flower (but you can saw on as many leaves as you fancy)

Make sure you have enough yarn hanging from the tip of the leaves and the bottom of the flower. Attach the flower to your bike helmet and hit the road…

Amsterdam

Amsterdam

Amsterdam is fantastic. The knitting shop De Afstap is always nice (www.afstap.nl). The shop is central and if you are in town it is a nice place to visit.

But what is of special interest are the knitted garments locals are wearing…. This sweater is knitted by Harry’s mother, but the design is Harry’s…

And the funny things made by wool.

The Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam is an amazing building from the inside (not very impressed by the outside) and as an especially nice feature they have some wallpaper I had to touch.
