I knit because I do not know how not to. For me knitting is very much a process – therefore I unravel my things a lot.
I seldom follow a pattern, but will look at a pattern and then find a stitch or different stitches I can combine.
I love to buy yarn, not with a specific project in mind, but just because I like the smell, the texture, and all the dreams about great project I could make.
Therefore I have a lot of yarn that I take out when I want to start a new project. I try, feel, think, and get new ideas about what this new project should look like. I seldom have enough yarn for a whole project – so this is where I start to play.
When I was 16 I followed a pattern with yarn, pattern explanations and needle size, but no gauge swatch – I ended up with a sweater several sizes to big. The yarn was great, but the sweater I should have given to my dad… This sweater I have unravelled and am now looking for another inspiring project.
I have knitted since I was small and I have always knitted a lot – I come from a family of knitters so help has always been at hand. There has only been one period where I did not knit, and that was when I had a job I should have left long ago. Therefore as long as I knit, even though it might be manic or late into the night, people who love me know there is nothing to worry about.
I hope you enjoy my blog. My plan is to write the patterns of what I knit, so readers hopefully get inspired and use what they like and change what they do not. Please tell me your thoughts and hopefully we will both be inspired.
