This hat has fascinated me ever since I saw the #31 Bobbled Tam pattern by Cathy Carron in the Vogue Knitting Holiday issue of 2008. But I do have plenty of hats…and the yarn was not there……but than I was given some lovely left over Muskox wool from Greenland by a dear friend. When one is given something that nice – action has to be taken.

Felting is fascinating but as the final result cannot be unravelled I have never had the courage. But this hat is so fantastic that I am tempted to give it a try. We saw the hat while walking the streets of Utrecht – The Nederland. It can be found at the Hat museum in the centre of town…

Is a remake as good as the original?

It may look the same – the yarn, the needle size and the stitches are the same, but it feels a little different. Maybe it is the memory of a hat I liked or maybe just a memory that I feel the new hat is not able to compete with. A nice memory is of course always difficult to compete with… I like my new hat and am very careful not to loose it again but the original is my favourite. Hopefully somebody else in Greater London is wearing my old favourite hat – please take care.

Birthday present for my brother who is into computer games! Made in yarn he can wash at all temperatures…. I hope he could sense all the love that went into knitting that hat
