I knitted this sweater twice…. and as my dad is a very big man, it took me a long time to knit!
By mixing patterns and different stitches I wanted to give him a sweater where he would always find a new combination of patterns and yarn to focus on.
While knitting this sweater I lived in London so therefore I was very inspired by English patterns mixed with Norwegian and Faroese patterns and Japanese knitting technique.

This sweater is my first attempt at a Nordic sweater – most of the patterns are from an old Norwegian knitting book my father-in-law has kindly given me and the pattern on the body is from an old Swedish pattern.
This is my first, but surly not the last, attempt at a Norwegian inspired sweater.
At that time it took me great effort to make the red shoes look nice – too many stitches between the dancing feet, but is my small way of paying respect to all the ladies who were wore the red shoes literally or in spirit.
