Scarf for a cold winter’s day

Scarf for a cold winter’s day

This scarf is made for a cold winter’s day. The wool was given to me by a dear friend and a great knitter, and this of course added to the pleasure of making the scarf. I hope this inspirers you to make one as well.

All you need is two balls of yarn (one option is Rowan Polar or something similar) some ribbon (100 cm) and needles size 8 (European size)

Cast on 30 stitches.
Row 1: (knit 1, purl 1) x 6, (knit 1)x6, (purl 1, knit 1)x 6
Row 2: Slip the first stitch, (purl 1, knit 1)x5 , purl 1, (knit 1) X6, (purl 1, knit 1)x 6
Row 3: As row 2
Row 4: As row 2
Row 5: As row 2
Row 6: Slip the first stitch, (purl 1, knit 1)x5 , purl 1, (knit 1) X3, yarn over (this will make one extra stitch on the next row, (knit 1)x 3 , (purl 1, knit 1)x 6
Row 7: Slip the first stitch, (purl 1, knit 1)x5 , purl 1, (knit 1) X7, (purl 1, knit 1)x 6
Row 8: Slip the first stitch, (purl 1, knit 1)x5 , purl 1, (knit 1) X3, knit two stitches together, (knit 1)x 2 , (purl 1, knit 1)x 6

Repeat row 3 to 8 until the scarf measures 57 cm – cast off.

Scarf with a nice effect

This “scarf” (halsedisse) is made for a small child, but I had no child model at hand so this is why the scarf looks a bit small. I especially like the effect of the Lana Grossa – Numero Uno Print yarn. You can use any yarn you like but I used Lana Grossa – Numero Uno Print and Hjertegarn Superwash Vital.

All I did was:

Cast on 80 stitches of Lana Grossa – Numero Uno Print yarn on a circular needle with size 4,5 (European size). The pattern: knit one – purl one until the tube is 15 centimetres long.

The rest of the scarf is knitted in Hjertegarn Superwash Vital. Leave 40 stitches (part A) on a separate needle to rest while you knit the remaining 40 stitches (part B).

How to knit part B:

Row 1: knit, purl, knit, purl, knit x 32, purl, knit, purl, knit
