Joining the club – Variation on the Venezia Pullover

Knitting this sweater came as a surprise even to myself. When I first saw the Venezia Pullover pattern by Eunny Jang in the magazine Interweave Knits – Winter 2006. I was not tempted at all. Than one evening I was looking through my faves in Ravelry and guess what ?! I had faved the Venezia pattern twice – without noticing…. The trigger for me was that the pullover designs in Ravelry only used two colours. This I think makes the beautiful figurative pattern stand out.

Well having faved it twice in Ravelry had to be sign. I have really enjoyed knitting this sweater and I though that figurative pattern was really nice and easy to do.

The yarn I used for this version of the Venezia Pullover is Palino – soft merino wool Superwash from Hjertegarn. This is really nice yarn to knit with…But and there is a bit BUT the garment will grow after wash with this yarn – and blocking is not an option (so take this into consideration before starting out).

I have changed the neckline from the original pattern and waist is made by scaling down the needle size twice.

Winter has official arrived and that is good new for a knitter like me. Latest project is a new neck warmer. Not that I need yet another neck warmer, but I was not able to withstand Insaknitty’s neck warmer: Wham bam thank you lamb. Look up her pattern it is very easy.

This vest is knitted in Kasisma classic Drops garnstudio yarn. It is very warm so no need for long sleeves. The stitch is Honey Stitch.

The vest is knitted in no time as the stitch is easy and very relaxing to knit.

All the things you do for love

My husband has style, especially when it comes to knitting. He wants the best yarn (Fare island wool), he is very particular about the colour and he wants the garment to be stylish in a not to dominant way.

I just want to ensure he wears whatever I knit for him! But of course it has to be a little fun to knit as well. Therefore he has designed this vest, but I have managed to sneak in a small cable on the back (can always be coved up by a jacket if it is not appropriate – but we both know it is there).

I wish he will wear this vest until it needs repair…

I have recently been to San Francisco – California. The nature around San Francisco was fantastic and San Francisco was a lovely city.

Apart from nice views, cable cars and nice food San Francisco also offers the opportunity to explore the city and its many nice areas through yarn shops. There are several nice shops in San Francisco, but I would recommend Urban knitting studio, Artfibers, Noe Knit and ImagiKnit. They will not only tempt you with nice yarn, book and accessories, but also show you some nice part of the city.

Friends with a passion for knitting

Knitting is nice in solitude, but even nicer with friends. The only “drawback” is that more ideas are developed – as if I do not have plenty of half done projects.

Furthermore it suddenly becomes natural to knit in nice cafes (Royal Copenhagen), hours can be spend in nice knitting shops (Betty, Sommerfuglen, Uldstedet) and knitting in public is the common thing to do.

Knitting with my yogurt? Yes please…

I love yogurt, especially the natural kind. But the yogurt seems to taste better if there is a picture with a lady knitting on the packet…

I think Sweden and the Swedes are great!

Knitting in public day

I think knitting in public da y is a fantastic concept. I often knit in public – yes I am officially a knitter and not ashamed of it…

My friends and I wanted to be part of the bigger happening, but meet up at the wrong venue. The venue where my friends and I had our knit in public day was Dansk Design Centre. Very nice tea and cake, and the food smelled very nice. Lovely day, lovely people and hopefully more people got inspired to knit. Next year I will be back knitting in public!
